Weave Type > Hand Knotted Show All
hand knotted rugs Hand knotted pile rugs are made on looms and they consist of a warp and weft where each knot is tied by hand. On back of each one, these are the thousands of tiny squarish "bumps" or knots. Each is looped tightly around the warp, supported by the weft and is virtually impossible to be pulled out. Every Persian or Turkish knot can be made in single wefted or double wefted structure. On single wefted rugs, each knots appears as two loops whereas in the double wefted structure, each knot appears as one loop. Persian knots are usually found in finer, intricate, curved designs and Turkish knots in more angular, geometric rugs. The diagram shows the single wefted Turkish knot.
